This famous performance was originally created in 2001 and was the first Polish adaptation of Sarah Kane’s drama with such artistic scale and force. Warlikowski explores love in its various aspects – loneliness, suffering, heroic faithfulness, lack of acceptance, and unfulfilled longings.

Superb cast and unique stage design make it a complete sell-out each time the production appears in programmes. Bonaszewski, “using simple yet refined ways of expression, plays an almost gentle, but striking in his brutality, monster,” writes Teresa Wilniewczyc (Notatnik Teatralny 2002/26). Janusz Majcherek, describing Celinska’s outstanding, committed performance, admits that “[…] this is not just devotion, this is self-sacrifice or even – and I’m not afraid to say it – some kind of a new total act” (Teatr 2002/1-2).

Duration: 2 hours 40 minutes (no intermission)
