A project of Arden2: Society for Promoting International Theater Exchange and Dialogue
(Costa Mesa, California – www.arden2.org

Made possible through support from the Grotowski Institute, City of Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs Cultural Exchange International Program, Adam Mickiewicz Institute, Trust for Mutual Understanding, and U.S. Embassy in Warsaw.

Throughout the festival, a select group of theatre directors from the United States – representing a multi-generational cross-section of both seasoned and emerging professionals from major cities across the country – will gather daily to collectively explore ideas, hopes, dreams, and questions for the future of American theatre. The unique international context and performances will serve as springboards for discussion, with prominent leaders from the field serving as facilitators, panelists, and keynote speakers. Additionally, participants will go on expeditions to theatres in different Polish cities; meet and exchange ideas with innovative Polish theatre artists; and forge new relationships with other theatre practitioners from around the world. Ultimately, seeds will be planted for new collaborations, both nationally and internationally; and fragments of the participants’ conversations, journal entries, and sketches will be shared with the wider field in a post-festival publication and short documentary film, both available through Arden2 in late 2009.
